Network Marketing – What It Is and What It Isn’t

In my everyday conversations with people, I get a lot of people who ask me what I do. When I say that I am in network marketing, most of them will sneer and look at me with that same look, ” that’s one of those pyramid schemes”. Network marketing carries the wrong illusion of a pyramid scheme. When I ask them back, ” what is a pyramid scheme?” They cannot answer. I am going to tell you the truth about network marketing – what it is and what it isn’t.

What It Is

Network marketing is not a pyramid scheme. Network marketing is a business that leverages the efforts of many distributors or representatives of a company to produce sales of a product or service that this company represents. These efforts produce a residual income for both the company and the distributors of that company. It’s that simple.

I worked for Ford Motor Company for thirty five years. Through the combined effort of thousands of employees, all around the world, sales and the distribution of Ford Motor Company vehicles, produced a residual income for both Ford Motor Company and its employees. You could say that Ford Motor Company is a form of network marketing. This can be said of thousand of other companies all around the globe. You probably are or have been employed by one of them.

What most people don’t realize is that network marketing is the key that drives the entire worlds economy. In fact 95% of the worlds population work in some type of network marking and don’t even know it. If it is run as I described in the paragraph above, it is probably some sort of network marketing business.

What It Isn’t

I am approached, by network marketing representatives, every day about their particular company and the product or service that it represents. There are about 4800 network marketing companies out there, so there are a lot of fish in the ocean to choose from. When someone comes to me about a business opportunity that only has to do with the passing and exchanging of money from one person hands to the next persons hands, a big red flag goes up. When there is no mention of a product or service, and they can get cleaver in hiding this, be very careful.

There was a company that was out, and may still be out, that cost one hundred dollars to get in. With this they put your name on a grid. As you got people to join, your name moved up the grid. When you got to the top of the grid, you received a check for a certain amount of money, and your name went to the next grid. When you got to the top of that grid you received another check. With each grid, the check amount increased. The only way you moved up the grid was by how many people you brought in. This is a pyramid scheme. No product involved, and the only way you moved up was getting more people in, not selling anything.

Some people were making money, but it is illegal. This is against the law, and you want to be very careful. They can be very cleaver on how they present their opportunity. If you are seriously looking for a network marketing business, talk to someone that you know and understands the business. If you don’t know anybody, you can take a look at my website. The network marketing industry has been around for over a hundred years. It produces 120 billion dollars a year of revenue. The oldest network marketing company is Avon, not Amway. Most people don’t know that. It has providing more millionaires than any other industry. For a small investment you can start your very own business. Work from home and build a nice residual income for you and your family. Work par-time or full-time. Work your business around your schedule. It is a strong and viable industry to get into. Do your homework.

My Journey in MLM

My journey in MLM, (multi level marketing), began many years ago. I got involved with my first MLM business, Amway. Amway is one of the most successful MLM businesses in history. They have a great product line and have a history to prove it. But I had a hard time in it. I never achieved the success that I thought I would or that I was told I would.

I did what all the successful people in Amway told me to do. Bought all the tapes and Cd’s, went to all the meetings, used the products myself, (they are awesome products by the way), and I was not getting the results that everyone told me I would. After awhile, when I was spending more money than I was making, I decided, this is not for me.

I joined another MLM. Again, a very good company with a great product, but I was not getting any results. ” Just keep going, don’t quit, it will come to you.” That’s what I was told over and over again.

“Something must be wrong with me!”, I thought. “I’m doing something wrong.” But I could not figure out what it was. I was ready to quit for good. No more of this for me.

Than I discovered something. All these people who were successful, and telling me to follow what they were doing, were A-type personalities. You know, the used car salesman type. They could sell ice to an Eskimo. They would chase you down, they wouldn’t take no for an answer, until you signed the dotted line. This was not me! Than I discovered something else.

About 15% of the population are A-type personalities. The other 85% …..that’s where I fit in, were just average. But you know what……that’s a good thing.

I am still involved in an MLM business today, but this time I am doing things a little bit different. I have met some new successful business entrepreneurs. They are top earners in their MLM businesses. They are making six figure incomes every month. But the best part is…..they are not all A-type personalities. They are like me, and maybe even like you, and they are top earners.

They teamed up with me and have shown me some of their strategies. These strategies are nothing like what I was told to do.

It’s based on a system called Attraction Marketing. A system that is a complete turn around from the old days of meetings, tapes and CD’s. No chasing people around here. You attract them to you by branding yourself as a leader who adds value to them and their business.

Now I go out and help people. I help them to generate traffic to their websites. This traffic turns into leads for their business…… and this is the real kicker…..are you ready for this? Even if they don’t get into my primary business, I can still make money. Learning MLM secrets like these has changed my business forever.

All of this is done through a very useful tool called the Internet. If you don’t have an Internet presence for your business, you will not survive. I’m not just talking about a replicated website that you and another million people have. If that’s all you have, you look just like everyone else out there.

This is a fully branded attraction marketing system, that brands you as a leader instead of just another peddler peddling your company name or company products. Everybody has a business, and you are just one in a crowd.

Step out of the mold. Be different. You are a very special individual with special talents that make you, you. You have value that can make you money in this industry, and you can help others do the same.
