We Are All Born Sales People

Just think about this for a minute. The ability to give someone the facts and the information in such a way as to lead them to where you want them to go. Not manipulation, although sometimes that’s the way we are perceived, and not deception, which is another way we are looked at, but the ability to give someone the truth and doing it in a way that they go to where you want them to go with that information.

You are giving them true factual evidence and information on products and services that will be beneficial to them, and will meet or exceed the  requirements that they need and are looking for. This is the picture that you want to paint for them. That there is not another person on the planet that can or will make this type of offer to them. If they say no to you today, they may never walk this way again.

Some will say that sales is all in the hype, and we do see plenty of that today with the very emotional pleas and rhetoric that a lot of sales people use, but I’ve never really been a big hyped up kind of person. Show me how both ends meet and that’s all I need, and I’ve always felt that kind of pitch usually gets washed away and you are left with the practicality of the product or service. If it doesn’t do and say what it’s supposed to do, it doesn’t matter how much you hype it up, it just won’t go.

The downside to that is that’s the way people will start to look at you, and when you come by again, that will be fresh in their minds and they will just tune you out. Nobody likes a used car salesman chasing you up and down the isles shouting all his hype at you.

This is the heart and soul of what direct sales is all about. Those who say that there is no selling in this marketing are not being real because there is. It may not be in the same way as other sales are but it still has the idea of you first selling yourself and then the product or service that you are representing.

But this is my point…we are all born sales people. When I talk to someone and they say they don’t want to sell anything or they can’t do sales, I will always come back at them and say, “yes you can, you’ve been doing it all your life.” Let me explain.

Remember when you were a kid and you and your brother found that lost puppy? Remember how you and your brother were putting together a sales pitch and platform, that you were going to use on your parents to convince them how they and you, needed this cute little puppy in their lives. All the while, when you were walking home, you were having a meeting as to how would be the best method to use and get mom and dad to come on board with you and your brother. You may not have realized it, but you were selling.

This is when your best sales skills come out.

 

What about the time when you were in a rush and you got pulled over by that nice police officer. It takes a great deal of persistence and cunning to convince that officer that you were either, not speeding, or that you were justified in speeding, and he should give you a break, and you won’t ever do it again. That’s sales.

Or trying to convince your boss that you really need that week’s vacation. You’ve been working hard and you haven’t really had a day off in long time and you are really getting stressed and you could use some time to get away and refocus. Again…sales.

You see if you really look at your life and the situations that you’ve been in and how your incredible ability to talk and maneuver your way around people and those situations, I think you will be able to see that you really might have a very bright future in the direct sales industry.

Good Business is Good Relationships

Since the dawn of time sales people have always been looked down on. You know, the used car salesman type. They would chase you around the lot, promising you everything, and coming through with nothing. People always felt that if you purchased your new vehicle from anyone, other then a new car showroom floor sales person, you were getting ripped off.

Direct sales have changed. Or I should say are slowly changing over time. Actually this has been around for a few years, but not to many people use it. It’s called attraction marketing.

People buy from people that they know and trust. They don’t buy from companies. I know we are getting very cold in the way we try to do business today. We talk to computers, send emails, but there is no human face attached to the person on the other end of the phone or computer. That is what still makes direct sales what it has always been. Direct face to face and eye to eye contact.

Now I am not diminishing internet marketing. I am an internet marketer. My marketing system is a lead generation, and residual income producer for me. If you don’t have an internet presence, you will soon be left behind. But we still have to get on the phone and talk to people. That’s where the sale is closed. The human element still has to exist and be there for that closing to take place.

A man moved into the new house that he and his wife had just purchased. They were very excited. All the lawns and landscaping of all the homes in the neighborhood, were beautiful. He got right to work on his.

After months of fertilizing and and watering, his lawn still had weeds and looked terrible. He finally got the nerve up to ask his neighbor for some pointers on how he could get his lawn to look like his. The man was more than happy to help out with all his landscaping needs.

Soon the man’s new yard started to take on a brand new look. Everything was looking fantastic. He finally asked his new neighbor how he knew so much about landscaping. He answered, ” I own my own landscaping business”. He hired the neighbor on the spot for all his landscaping needs.

This story explains what attraction marketing is. You lead by giving out value, not by pitching some company or product. The minute you do that, people will perceive you as a leader and someone who knows what they are doing. You are separating yourself from the thousands of peddlers out their who are selling a company and chasing people around shoving their product down their throats.

The most important thing you are doing, is you are building relationships. Remember, people buy from people, not companies. Once the man in our story found out that his neighbor knew something about landscaping, and he had built a relationship with him, he was ready to buy what ever he was selling. Good business is good relationships.

Direct Sales – Multilevel Marketing. Are These Legit Businesses?

Direct Sales and Multilevel marketing. Are these legitimate  businesses to be involved in?  Have you ever heard of Avon or Amway. These are billion dollar companies. Avon has been around since 1886.

Why do so many people look down at anyone who works an MLM business or is involved in direct sales? I am so tired of having people look down their noses at me because they think that my business is a scam or I am involved in some under ground illegal pyramid scheme.

People who are in physiology or finances are the ones who give me the worst rap. I guess it might be that they had to go to school for eight to ten years and run up 100,000 dollars in student loans, and now they are stuck in a job that occupies seventy to eighty hours a week of their time.

My job is around my schedule. I make my own hours and appointments. I don’t have thousands of dollars in student loans. I don’t put in seventy hours a week on my job, unless I want too. I don’t have to answer to a boss, who tells me when I take a lunch or if I am going to take a lunch. My vacations are whenever I want to take them.

The way I see it,  having a JOB  is being in prison. You had to pay all that money to finance an education, so that you could get a job, that takes all of your time.  It might take you ten years or more to pay off your student loans.

I am not against education. No way. We all should get an education and learn. I love to learn and I am always learning. I wish I knew back when I was younger, what I know now, about how money works. How the wealthy exchange their money for time, and the rest of the population exchange their time for money. My friends are putting in seventy to eighty hours a week for a paycheck. The wealthy have learned how to use their money to work for them in exchange for time.

Time is the most valued commodity there is. It’s what we all want more of. You can work for someone else and use all your time to get money or you can learn how to use your money to work for you and in exchange you get more time. Time that you can use as you wish.

Multilevel marketing and direct sales offers you a chance to start a business of your own at a minimum investment. It does take work and time to build your business, but you can do this at the pace you set to adjust for your family and their needs. Full or part time. You decide.

With our economy still struggling, more and more people are looking to the MLM industry to fulfill a dream to work for themselves or to bring in another stream of income.

It won’t cost you $100,000 dollars and it won’t take seventy or eighty hours a week of your time. But there are people in this industry that are making $100,000 dollars a year or $100,000 dollars a month. You just might find a very rewarding and lucrative business that will give you a comfortable lifestyle and more of your time back to you, to do as you please.

Through direct sales and multilevel marketing businesses, people are learning how to get more of their money working for them. Don’t let anyone look down their nose at what you do. They might  just be  jealous.
