Advice and Strategies That Will Take You Out of This World

Everything About You is Branding Who You Are Where Ever You Go

Some friends were coming over to our house a while back for a visit, and I realized what kind of impression I was portraying to others, and the type of person I was telling them I was when they saw how the outside of my house looked. I take great pride in having my lawn nicely manicured and flowers planted around, it’s a reflection of me.

On the other hand, I call my wife the “Martha Stewart” of the family, because she has to have everything clean and everything decorated and in its place. Our house, on the inside, could be on the cover of “Better Homes and Gardens” magazine.

Now I don’t say this to brag or to elevate us above anyone else, but we live in a small home, about 1600 square feet, but we do work hard at keeping it looking nice.

But it hit me, the way the inside of the house looks, and is decorated, is the finger print of my wife on our home and our life, and the way the outside looks is the my fingerprint on our home and our lives. It’s says something of who we are and what we are like.

Everything about you is branding who you are where ever you go.

Everything that we say and do, and the way we say it and do it,  is a reflection or a branding of who we are. The way we talk, the way we dress, the importance we put on different things, are we organized and disciplined or not, all these and more, reflect a small piece of our personality to the people we are exposing ourselves too.

For example, those of you who follow me and read my posts are learning a little bit about me simply by reading what I write and the way I write it.

Because of all this we should take a pause and see the way we are reflecting ourselves to others, and if you don’t have a plan of action, you should plan on what you need to do to brand yourself. How do your prospects see you? What kind of person do you want to emulate to your world?

I’m not just talking about to your business world, but to everyone, because who you really are will always come out into the forefront. You can put up a mask to hide behind for only so long, and then the real you will come out.

You can put up a mask to hide behind for only so long.

Have you ever met someone who was famous and maybe you saw them running to catch a plane or somewhere behind the scenes, and they weren’t the way you had expected them to be?

I met Ted Lindsay once, hockey legend and Hall of Famer, and he was the most gracious man I have ever met. Here was this great hockey player who was known for the way he took care of business on the ice, and yet he took the time to talk to my sons and sign autographs. It made you feel important that he stopped to take that time to talk with you.

The most successful entrepreneurs are the ones who are just being themselves. The same person you read and see in videos, is the same person that you will meet at a company function or maybe a person that is more personable than you thought.

Branding yourself goes a lot further than just doing videos and writing articles, it’s who you are on the inside, who you are when no one is watching, and letting your market get a little peak at the real you once in a while.

Now I understand, everyone needs the time when you let your hair hang down and you relax with your family and friends, there should always be a side of you that you keep for the very close and intimate people in your life. That’s not what I’m talking about here.

I’m talking about who you portray and how you portray yourself on the business platform, should be the real you, and not a mask to hind behind.

Do You Live Life in The Comfort Zone?

The comfort zone is where you feel safe. No waves. No rough seas. See no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. I’m not going to bother you and I don’t want you to bother me. That’s the comfort zone. Or as some call it…living in the box. Where do you live? Do you live in the box……I mean do you live your life in the comfort zone?

I don’t mean comfort like you are financially comfortable. That’s where we all want to be. I mean comfort in the fact that you will never stray to far out of the comfort of your box. Like a puppy or a new born chick. They will never stray to far away from their mother. Why would they? They have warmth, food, and comfort. Kinda like why so many kids today, who don’t move away from home and make a life for themselves. They are comfortable there. They don’t want to move away from that comfort.

Eagles are a great example of this.

Eagles can soar to heights of 10,000 feet

Eagles are very beautiful and interesting birds. They build their nests on high cliffs to keep intruders out and their eggs protected. After those eggs hatch and the birds are born, they will grow up and be fed and protected until they can take care of themselves.

The mother will get the young  ready for flight by flying close to the nest with food in her mouth, but never giving it to the young birds. As she flies by, they try to grab it from her. Teetering on the edge of the nest their wings are open and flapping to keep from falling. In this way they are exercising the wings that will eventually allow them to soar at heights of 10,000 feet and reach speeds up to 35 mph.

To get the birds out of their comfort zone, the mother will take out the soft feathers that had once lined the nest. This will expose the thorny sticks and twigs of the nest, making it anything but comfortable.

To the reluctant bird who just doesn’t want to leave that warm comfy nest, she will eventually push him out. As he falls, he had better learn how to use those wings. She will come underneath him a couple of times and catch him to try again. This will only happen for so long. If he hasn’t picked it up, she will let him fall to his death.

97% of the world’s population live their lives in their comfort zone. In the box. Only 3% venture out of the box. Those are your Donald Trump’s, Robert Kiyosaki’s, and Thomas Edison’s of the world. They are the risk takers. The people who dare to dream. The adventurers of this world. The entrepreneurs that will leave their marks on society. Discover the cure for a disease.

Thomas Edison tried over a thousand times to build an incandescent light bulb. Just think how many people must have laughed? How many must have thought he was a bit crazy? But he never quit until he did what he set out to do.He could see that light bulb in his head. Nobody else could.

Determination, perseverance, and a will that is not moved by the naysayers. You know…….the people who are shouting their insults and negative remarks from the comfort of their box. That is what is needed to be a network marketer. You have to get uncomfortable. You have to get out of the box.

Do you want to soar like an eagle? Do you want to go to new heights? Do you want to fly where very few people have gone? Are you an eagle? Than get out of the comfort of your box and fly!

Marketing Offline

Lets talk about some off line marketing techniques first, before we get into some of the Internet marketing strategies.

The first one that I love is the $100 dollar bill drop cards. They look just like a real $100 dollar bill. One side has your information, and the other side has the look of a $100 dollar bill. You fold them in half and you have the real look of a one hundred bill. They come in other denominations, but for me, the $100 dollar bill works the best.

About 90% of all customers pay for their gas with a credit card at the pump. Very few people will go inside to pay for their gas unless they need to buy a drink or something else. After I pump my gas, I will put one of my folded drop cards into the credit card slot. The next person that comes to that pump has to take the drop card out and look at it. Now, one of two things will occur. They will read it and like it or they will throw it down on the ground. Now you have a $100 dollar bill drifting around on the ground. This is as viral a marketing technique as you can get. Everyone is going to pick that card up and take a look at it.

The next way to market your drop card is at a newspaper stand.  This is best done in the morning when the paper stands are full of newspapers. Put your fifty cents into the stand and when it opens, you will see about thirty or forty newspapers. Put one of your drop cards into everyone of those newspapers. For just fifty cents you just got some great marketing to thirty or forty people. Do this at about five or six stands and you just marketed to about 200 people for about three dollars.

The next place to market your drop cards is at the book store. Go to any Barnes and Noble or other traditional bookstore. Go to the magazine section. Look for the “Work From Home”; “Entrepreneur” or “Success” magazines. Stick your $100 dollar bill drop cards inside of these magazines. The people that purchase these kinds of magazines are the kind of people that you want in your organization.

The other place is in the books like; “Rich Dad Poor Dad” or any kind of entrepreneur or homebased business books. These are the people that you are looking to enroll in your business or enterprise.  You can also go to your library and find these types of books there. Place a drop card in each one of them.

One of the more recent best selling books was called, “The Secret”. Oprah Winfrey was a big proponent of this book. She had it on her show with numerous guests. There is a chapter in this book called “Prosperity”. What if you were engrossed in reading this book, and you come to the chapter that is titled, “Prosperity”. As you open this chapter a $100 dollar bill drops out.  Wow! The Secret Works!

These are the people that you want to recruit into your down-line. People who are reading and studying about their personal development. People who want, and are learning how to be successful entrepreneurs.

Drop cards are a great way to generate good quality leads for your business because…….they work.

MLM Marketing

I love football. I love sports, but football is one of my favorite. The football playoffs are on right now. The excitement. Unfortunately my Detroit Lions have missed the playoffs again.

I play fantasy football also, and I did win our Super Bowl for 2009. That is an awesome experience. Trophy and all. You would only understand this if you are a sports fan.

What I want to talk to you about is not NFL football. The NFL that I’m talking about stands for; No More Family and friends Left. Are you in this NFL League?

I used to be there. I would find some awesome opportunity  and want to share it with everyone that I knew. Only thing is nobody was ever home when I called. They would run the other way when they saw me coming. They would think to themselves;” What is Brian into now?”

You get into this league when you are told to make a list of all your warm market contacts in order to get your business off and running. This is the first mistake. When I was talking to my grandma, she didn’t have a clue as to what I was talking about and she didn’t really care. She would just be nice and buy something from me, and I would get a nice meal from her. I was never going to grow my business this way.

If you were starting a baseball team would you go and talk to construction workers? Or would you go to grandma knitting class and see who you could recruit? No, you would go and talk to baseball players.

If you are starting a network marketing business wouldn’t it make sence to go and talk to network marketers?

Lets take a look at both of these lists of recruits we would get.

List #1: grandma, friends, family and perfect strangers.

List #2: Only network marketing entrepreneurs, past, present, or aspiring future ones.

List #1: Is only built by your sphere of influence. How many people do you know.

List #2: Is built by the scopes of the internet, which is wide and deep.

List #1: Maybe one out of ten is an entrepreneur and even he may network marketing.

List #2: Nine out of ten are network marketing entrepreneurs. (nothing is 100%)

List #1: You have to ask them if they are interested, and nine times out of ten, you will be rejected.

List #2: You know they are interested because the only way they get on the list is if they are network marketers or interested in your specific business.

List #1: You might have a hundred people, but you have to meet each and everyone.

List #2: Starts off fast and grows by 20 people everyday on auto-pilot without me having to face them belly to belly.

List#1: You will get to the NFL League with this list.

List #2: Won’t make the cut.

All of us need to have a list of people for our businesses to be successful. They will differ drastically by how we build them and who gets on.

If you want to be a member of the NFL League, just continue to do what you’ve been told to do and keep chasing your grandma and all her friends.

If you want to put together a real team of qualified, pre-interested, experienced network marketing entrepreneurs, then step into the 21st century of network marketing.

It makes so much more sense to me. How about to you?
