Remember the song that Barbara Streisand sang; “People who need people, are the luckiest people in the world”. Good thing you are only reading this and not hearing me sing it right now, I would lose you for sure.

Let’s just think about that for a moment. People who need people; who doesn’t need other people? Now I’m a very independent person, but I would be absolutely lost without other people in my life, and so would you. People make the world go round, we need each other whether you want to admit that or not.

I remember an old Lee Marvin movie, “Hell in the Pacific”. It’s a story of an American marine pilot and a Japanese naval officer, stranded on the same island back in 1944 during World War II. They are naturally enemies but it’s very interesting how they finally realize that they need each other if they are ever going to leave the island alive.

People and relationships are what make our lives move and have meaning. A relationship is what got you married, if your married. A relationship with your friend is what got you in trouble, when you egged that house way back on a cold dark evening in October, and it’s relationships that keep your business growing and thriving. The same trust that comes from relationships where we are saying, “I do”, is the same trust that’s going to turn a curious lead into a valuable customer.

Here are four steps you can take to get yourself and your blog out there where other people can see you and come over to read what you have, that will allow you to make that very important connection.

Join Social Networks

More than 80% of Americans use social networks

I don’t mean to just get a twitter or a Facebook account and start sending out friend requests. Join some groups and get to know some people. Talk to them and ask them questions. It’s like the new neighbor moving in, you come down to their house with a pie and introduce yourself to them by being a little neighborly.

That may be the old-fashioned way of doing things but it works, and people will get to know you by seeing you around, and they will eventually ask you about what you do. It happens all the time. Having the right tools in place will give you that extra edge.

We live in a social networking world, even governments can’t get away with doing things without the whole world knowing about it, or even some of our political figures. You have to be careful what you send and say on your cell phone and your face Book account because everyone will read about it.

Join groups where the people have a need for your products. Don’t join weight loss groups when you have a cake decorating business.

It’s Not All About You

This is a big mistake that I’ve learned the hard way. Don’t just write content about you and your business, write about others and those that can contribute value to your readers. Give them content that will enhance them and thus you will be enhanced in their eyes. You will now become that someone who they want to come back for more and pass you onto others.

It’s even good to have guest writers on your blog, something that I’ve not done as of yet, but will definitely do in the future. Forget about yourself, and think about your customers. What are their problems? What matters to them? That’s what you need to be bringing to the table.

There’s nothing more impressive than stopping by the side of the road and helping that person fix their flat tire, and ask for nothing in return. People will remember that and you.

Give Them What They Want

Sometimes we get caught up as the expert in our field, and we know exactly what the customer’s problem is. I don’t mean the symptoms, or the issue that they want to fix right now — I mean the real problem that lies deep down at the root of it all. The trouble is that people don’t always know that, and so they aren’t looking for that solution. Start by introducing them to what they want and then you can deliver what they need later along the way.

Give Them a Call

This is the most important one. More than 80% of your business depends on this one.

I don’t care how many leads you can generate, if you’re not on the phone and connecting with people you will never make a dime in this industry. Even if you don’t make a sale, you’ve made a connection that might come back later to a sale. That has happened so many times.

I’ve talked with people and never closed a sale, but I’ve helped them with something that they may have been struggling with, and they are grateful and are going to remember me.

This was the hardest thing for me to learn to do, was to pick up that phone and give that person a call. I remember doing all those cold calls back when I was in the mortgage industry. I hated doing them, but they were a great training ground for what I’m doing today. It’s like riding a bike, once you learn how to do it, you never forget and it gets easier and easier as you go along. Sure you will fall down and get bruised up, but that’s how you learn.

Just do it and that 800 pound gorilla, we call the phone, will become as light as a feather, and your bank account will thank you.

Get Hundreds of Shares Every Time You Write an Article Without Doing Any Work

A friend introduced me to TribePro awhile back. I have three blogs and I write on HubPages as well. I love to write, and needless to say, article marketing is one of my favorite tools in my arsenal of marketing weapons, but I was not ready for the impact TribePro would have on my articles.

A Personal Hello is Far Superior Than a Generic Hi

Have you ever been in a situation where you bump into someone that you haven’t seen in a long time and you can’t remember their name? Especially someone that you may have worked with very closely for a long time. Embarrassing isn’t it?

What was your name again?

Or what about when you bump into someone, that you haven’t seen in awhile, and they not only remember your name but maybe remember a situation or circumstance that you or a family member was going through? That is impressive, and doesn’t it make you feel kind of important? Doesn’t it make you feel good about yourself and that person who still remembers you?

I am terrible at names and so this sort of thing is something that I battle with quite frequently. It doesn’t take a long separation or a real different setting for me to forget someone’s name. I have to work very hard at getting this all down right.

This sort of amnesia is not something that you want to get into the habit of doing in your business.

QR Code? Text Messaging? Video Email? Is Your Marketing in The Stone-age?

Remember when the bar codes came out and everyone thought “Big Brother”, (from the book 1984), was taking over, and now we have the QR codes taking over.

QR codes actually look very different then bar codes and they hold a whole lot more and very different kind of information then bar codes.

When a bar code is scanned at the check out counter, it is telling the system for that particular store, that this item has been sold and one is removed from the quantity that is stored in the warehouse. When that quantity reaches a certain level, a message is given that the store needs to reorder more of that product.

QR codes are very different in the kind, and amount of information they hold.

Say you’re in the Dentist office waiting room, and you’re browsing through a magazine. You see something that really peaks your interest and you would like to check this out more, but you’re waiting to see the dentist. You can’t cut out the page from the magazine…well maybe you can but I don’t think Dr. Dan would like that very much.

Wait a minute, you just take out your new smart phone from your pocket or purse and scan the QR code that is in the add! Now you have all the information and more on your smart phone. When you get back home, and the numbness wears off from your mouth, you can look at all the info right there. It’s that easy.

More and more companies and marketers are using QR codes. You see them popping up all over. This is one of my QR codes that I use. Go ahead and take out your smart phone and go to the app location on your phone. Click the pop up window and click on the spot where it says, “scan a barcode”. Then all you do is line up your phone over the code as if you were taking a picture, smile and click. This is for those who use a blackberry phone, but you can use any smart phone to scan a QR code.

Now that website or other information from that code is now on your smart phone.

Clock Time and Real Time – Which One Are You Living In?

There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year…I guess you see where I’m going with this. This kind of time is clock time and it’s the same no matter who you are or where you are. Everyone of us must abide by this kind of time.

Real time is what you do with and during the clock time. Taking my grand-daughter to a Justin Bieber concert, seemed like ten minutes in clock time for her, but for me it felt like 12 hours.

Where are you right now in your life and in your business with time? Are you living in real time or just clock time?

I know that are classes, software, and all kinds of gadgets to help us all manage our time better, but do any of them really help you? Probably not, and you want to know why? Because they are designed to manage clock time and that’s not real time.

Like the Justin Bieber concert that dragged on for an eternity for me, but just  flashed past my grand-daughter, real time goes by slow when we’re having fun but drags when we’re not.

Real time is a mental state that lies inside your head. You create it and you manage it, weather you know it or not. Lets take a look at how we can manage our real time and put it toward good use.

Interruptions

As a business owner my time is very valuable. I get interrupted a lot throughout my day, as most of you can relate to as well. Naturally my wife and kids are top priorities when it comes to interruptions, but others are a different story. My family respects my time and will only interrupt unless it’s an emergency…usually.

I had a friend of mine who just got laid off from his 9 to 5 job and he is starting to call me when ever he gets bored. How do I know this, because he told me. To fritter away the hours in a day with a person who is board with their real time, is not what I was put here on this earth for, and neither were you.

Make a list of interruptions you will allow and those that are absolutely off the charts, and then STICK TO IT!

Think it Through

Many years ago when I was struggling financially, my friend told me to write down anything I bought that cost more then a dollar. Then I could see where and how much money I was just wasting away on stupid frivolous things.

The same concept is true with your time. Write down all your thoughts, activities, and conversations and at the end of the week, you will have a written log of what you did with your real time. What was productive and what was not.

I am a note taker and a list maker but it doesn’t do me any good if I don’t follow through and allow time foe what I need to do on my list.

Schedule time for productive thinking, conversations, and activities. After all, this is where your bread and butter comes from. This is where the money is at that will provide for your family. This is where at least 50% of your real time should be. This is your business.

Plan Your Day

I have yet found a business planner that works for me, and I’ve looked at a lot. So what I do is; I will take and plan out my weekly schedule, appointments, meetings, and conversations, on Sunday night or Monday morning. But every morning I will take at least 30 minutes, with my first cup of coffee, to plan out my day. Things change or get canceled and I find this the best way for my to get a handle on what I want to accomplish with my real time for that week and day.

Log Your Activity

Before each phone call, go over in your mind what it is you want to accomplish. This helps me slow the pace down a bit and focus on the task at hand.

When I played baseball, the last thing in the world you wanted to do is run up to the plate and start swinging at every pitch thrown at you. Take a breath and think of what you want to do.

Take notes after you hang up as well. Did you get what you wanted, what worked and what didn’t, is there a follow up call needed. This is my evaluation as to how I did.

Do Not Disturb

Don’t be afraid to put  up the “do not disturb” sign up when you absolutely need to get things done. Let the phone go to voice mail, turn off skype,  twitter, Face Book, or anything else that is going to take your attention away from the task at hand.

My wife will always tell me she’s going to bed, as I see her turn on the TV and grab her cell phone. She’s not going to sleep, she’s going to watch TV and talk on her cell phone.

If you follow these little guides, I think you will find yourself using the real time you have in a more productive and useful manner. They work for me and I know they can work for you.

What is CPA Marketing?

Many of you who have been in network marketing for any length of time have heard of PPC marketing. That is Pay Per Click marketing. Most people have heard of or have used Google PPC marketing or maybe even Face Book PPC marketing.

If you set up an ad on Google or Face Book, and every time someone clicks on it to take a closer look at what your product is, you are charged a certain price. Now they don’t have to purchase anything, all they have to do is click on your ad and you are charged for every click. You hope they like what they see and make a purchase, but that’s not how you pay for your ad. You pay per click.

CPA marketing is just a bit different. It stands for Cost Per Action or Pay Per Action. This is where the advertiser pays for each specified action as when a purchase is made. Someone clicks an the ad and they like what they see and they purchase the product. You would pay only when the action of the purchase is made.

Companies like this, and it is used when they use a free trial instead of the purchase of a product. When someone takes the action and signs up for the 30 day free trial, the price is paid on that action taken.

Naturally, the company hopes that the customer will stay after the trial period is over, or even if they forget to cancel before the trial period expires, the company will make some money and we all know that happens. We’ve all done it.

There are a lot of people that do nothing but this kind of affiliate marketing and make a very nice income every month.

Well there is an affiliate program that works off the CPA marketing form. You are the affiliate and through your marketing efforts, you get people to sign up for their free trial periods on various products from various companies, and every time someone takes that action…guess what…you get paid. Even if that customer cancels before the trial period is over, you still get paid.

The action you get paid on is them signing up for the free trial period, not weather they stay on or not. You are the affiliate and the company pays you daily.

Four Step Guide To Creating a Sales Funnel for Your Business

No matter what type of business you’re in, it’s always nice to see people waiting in a long line out front to get into your place. That spells success and profits. People are interested and eager to see what you have. They want to take a closer look, and that’s a very nice feeling to have as a business owner.

How do you generate that kind of interest? How do you create that kind of curiosity in what you do?

The Sales Funnel

When I worked for a mortgage company, we created, what we called, a sales pipeline or sales funnel. We always wanted this funnel to be full with interested clients. Now we all knew not everyone would end up being a buyer, but that wasn’t our goal. We just wanted to create the interest and get them in line. Everyone was at a different stage in the buying process, and putting them in the funnel was putting them through that process, which we hoped would end with them walking out the other end, a satisfied customer.

I am going to give you a 4 step guide to creating a sales funnel for your business.

1. Create an Interest

This is where people will be contacting you, and this happens by you offering something of value to them in return for their contact information. It can be anything from an e-book, newsletter, or a training session, but it has to be something that is worth enough for them to give you their information.

2. Follow Up

They’ve received their free valuable tool, and you have their information…now what?

This is where many people fall, and I was one of them. I always felt like the telephone was an 800 pound gorilla. I struggled at picking it up and calling the leads that I had. Remember, they have inquired of you and have shown an interest in your product. This is not a cold call. This is where you gauge where they are going to be placed in the funnel. Are they just gathering information? Do they need your services immediately? Or are they somewhere in between?

You will be able to tell right away if they are just kicking the tires or they are really serious prospects. Don’t waste your time with the tire kickers, they might just need more time. Concentrate more energy on the genuine serious leads.

3. Feed Prospects

Don’t completely forget about prospects. Put them in the funnel and gently feed them. Talk to people and learn to listen. Hear what they have to say and find the things that they need and are looking for, and bring them along the pipeline to the place they will turn into a sale and a close.

Remember the movie, “ET”. Remember when he lead  ET to his house by leaving a trail of “Reese peanut-butter candies”. (I love Reese’s Peanut Butter cups) That is the picture that you need to see, because that is exactly what you want to do with your interested, but not yet convinced, prospects. Continue to feed them valuable content that will move them down the funnel closer to a sale.

Set up an auto responder where you can keep in constant communication with them. As you are feeding them value, and communicating regularly, they are also getting to know you. The more they learn about you, the more they will trust you, and people always buy from people they know and trust. There is a way to generate an income from your funnel and help pay your marketing costs.

4. Close the Sale

If you have set up your funnel right and your process of sending people through it has been done properly, this will be the easy part. Closing is a process, not an event. These are just four very general steps to getting this all done, and it works.

Is Facebook ready to be number one? Facebook has reached 500 million members. Every eight seconds a new account is formed on Face Book.

Facebook has become a haven for network marketers. A sea of prospects. 500 million to be exact. Now how and what is the best way to market on Face Book?

The newest one is Facebook pay per click. This is rivaling  Google’s PPC marketing, and Google is getting a little worried.

There are a number of ways to market on Facebook and really you should be using a couple of different ones. I am going to show you just one. This is the one that I have been using and a lot of people have been using for awhile.

First you must have a Facebook account. That is very easy to do, but DO NOT mention anything about your business on your Facebook profile.  You want to connect with people. All people. If they see you and your business, they will assume you are just like thousands of other marketers on Face Book who just want to pitch their business at them.

Once you start making connections and friends, people will naturally want to know more about you. This is where your profile is important.  They are going to visit your profile and find out more about who you are. Just make conversation and only talk about your business to them when they ask, and they will eventually ask. Just be patient.

I usually have several generic scripts written  that I keep in my “office one note pad.” One for asking to be a friend and the other for thanking someone for their offer of friendship.

For example; “Hi Jim.  Really liked your page. Please add me to your friends list. I’m also online often so feel free to send me an IM.  Look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day. Brian” It’s friendly and to the point, and I usually always get a response. Always respond to every request you get. That personal note is very impressive. Don’t just click the confirm button.

Once that is done, start to connect with other people. If you are a network marketer, sign up with some of the groups that are associated with a company and or network marketing groups. Also think of the groups that have been hit hard right now with our struggling economy. Real Estate, mortgage, and financial investment companies. These people are hurting for some extra cash each and you have the tool that they could use. Get into their groups.

Once you are in, start posting some articles that are full of value pertinent to the needs of the group that you are in. Do videos and start connecting with people. It won’t take long for people to start looking at you as someone who knows what they are doing. People are not looking for products, they are looking for leaders to follow.

Every day you should be adding twenty to thirty people as friends. Be careful and do not add links to your website or blog in your response. If you do, Facebook will send out a warning after you send about ten or so, that you are doing things that could get your account closed. If you just send out a friendly note, like the one I suggested, you will have no limit.
