How many times have you heard that said before? Just imitate someone and you will become like them? That just doesn’t sound right, but if we examine that just a bit closer, I think we will see something that is very rich and valuable…no pun intended.
When I was growing up, I always wanted to be a professional baseball player. I had living on the street behind me two of my idles and favorite ball players, that played for my hometown team, the Detroit Tigers, Jim Northrup and Dick McAuliffe. Now this is going way back, but they played for the 1968 World Champion Detroit Tigers. I also got to see another hero of mine, Al Kaline, but never was able to talk with him or get his autograph.

Now I played baseball and I loved the game, but I was never able to get to the big leagues. Just mimicking the moves and actions of others doesn’t mean you will have the same results. You have to get into the mind and heart of a true champion before you will ever be able to act like one. There is a mindset that has to be in place before you can ever expect any real results.
There are many people who want to be rich, but very few that will actually attain it. All those people who are protesting and camping out on Wall Street, are so mad and angry at the rich simply because the rich are rich and they aren’t. Rich people didn’t get rich by complaining about those that were, or camping out in protest, they went out and changed their mindset and positioned themselves to gain the wealth that their heart and mind was set on.
If you look at the wealthiest people in the world, they didn’t attain their wealth in an instant. Statistics show that most millionaires have gone broke three or four times before they ever finally got it right, and it has taken them from between fifteen and twenty years before it all comes together.
I have a person that I’m coaching and they said that they have put out a couple of ads and still haven’t received any replies. It’s been a whole ten days and they are just about ready to quit. That’s why they will not only never attain any success or wealth in the network marketing industry, but I doubt if they will ever attain any success in anything because they have no drive, persistence, or patience to pursue their dreams…if they have any.
These are the people who feel they can mimic the actions of another and attain the same result, but without the heart and the drive and the correct mindset, they will fail and quit every time. That’s OK because not everyone is fit for network marketing or wealth, just like not everyone is fit to play professional baseball either. I don’t think there is a successful wealthy individual in the world, who hasn’t thought of quitting sometime, but winners never quit and quitters never win. You’ll never drive that BMW by quitting.
You have to decide who and what you want to be when you grow up and then pour all your energies and resources into that, and you still are never guaranteed success. Read Robert Kiyosaki’s book, “Rich dad, Poor Dad”, and see the mind-set change that had to occur in this self-made millionaire.
Now I have not attained the wealth or position that I want too, but I have a plan and I have a goal in the crosshairs, and I’m always moving forward to it. It’s not if, it’s when I reach it.
Here’s a couple of actions steps to get yourself moving in the right direction.
What Exactly Do You Want?
I was asked that by one of my mentors, and I said that I wanted to make 10,000 dollars a month. I thought I was shooting low, I just didn’t want to come out and say that I wanted to earn as much as I can. But she asked me what and how was I going to do to reach this goal that I have set before me, because she said it’s going to be harder than you think. She put some reality into my goals, not to discourage me, but rather to get my mindset on the right track so that I wouldn’t be discouraged when I hit some of the bumps in the road, and you will hit some.
Make a Realistic Plan
There will be people who want to suck all the time and energy out of you, so you have to plan to handle and train the people who come into your system or funnel of wealth. If you don’t you will become the personal tech support for all these people and you won’t have time to do anything else.
Gather All the Wagons Together and Move Out
Get moving and don’t take so much time sharpening all the pencils and lining all the chairs and desks up either. Put your plan into action today. Yes, you will hit bumps in the road and you will get an occasional flat tire once in a while, but don’t let that discourage you and don’t let that drain all the air out of your sails. Someone told me that the reason we fall down is so we can learn how to get back up. When you fall down, you brush yourself off and you get back up and move on.
I guess these are things that I’ve talked about before, but I never get tired of, and I always have to be reminded of them, because it’s so easy to get discouraged from family, friends, or others that just might not be on the same page as you are, and even though they all may be well-intentioned, it’s always a good idea to have mentors or business partners that you can engage in and communicate with to keep your heart and mind focused on the path and the plan that you have set for yourself, and keep to it and success will come. Your financial future depends on it.
